Gold Hunter Pocket Watch

The gold hunter pocket watch is a symbol of a past age. They were often worn by gentlemen, in the days when waistcoats were part of a gentleman's everyday attire.

The gold hunter pocket watch was attached to a chain, while the other end of the chain was fastened to the waistcoat, ensuring that it could not be dropped or mislaid.

They are a lovely watch to look at, and as a child, I found my grandfather's timepiece a wonderful object to look at and admire.

The ones I have seen wind up at the twelve o'clock position, and the full cover for the face is hinged at nine o'clock. I have been referring, so far, to the full hunter pocket watch.

There is also a variation known as the half hunter pocket watch.

This differs from the full hunter, in that the centre of the watch cover is replaced by glass, so the time can be seen without having to open the case, while at the same time, the cover protects the face from scratches and other damage.
